Daft, but is it worth it?

I used to work from the cabin at the bottom of my garden and often commuted 15 miles or so into work ^_^ especially on lovely sunny mornings. If I didn't commute in, I often commuted home either jogging or riding my bike. The cabin was only 25 yards from my back door but I loved my commute in. My friends used to laugh.
If I worked a mile from where I lived I would probably cycle in and go the 'pretty route'. I think its an excellent idea and you should just go for it.

I've actually given thought to this!

I live 1.6 miles from work and happily go by bike as often as possible. I don't like walking and the meagre savings on petrol are still savings.

Likewise, work 1.1 miles from home, scenic route(s) 5-7 miles at the moment hoping to increase to 12-15 miles when (if) weather improves! Very cold and wet today so went shortest route, a very rare occurrence indeed..

I currently live 1.75miles from work this morning 's commute was 11.5 miles but Friday night under snow blanket/ chaotic roads it was only 2.5miles, Monday was just the 1.75 miles walk and in summer when I want to get back get changed and go for a proper ride its only the 1.75miles too its up to you what you make of it; I personally like the flexibility ;)

I dare say I already know your opinions on this one, but thought I'd put it out there anyway!!
Im all for getting out on the bike as much as possible...But If I commuted to work, it'd only take me about 5 minutes to get there!! At little over a mile a way from my house, is there much point? By the time im there, my heartrate wont be much higher than normal and it all in all seems a bit of a palaver! haha

Cue the jokes and insults

I'd do it for the enjoyment, I rarely leave the house without a bike and have been known to ride to the bottom of the garden  The downside being you never really get going, but that just makes me more keen to make time for decent rides!

Tell your employer to move into new premisis further away from where you live.

Why not? Cycling is, for me at least, more enjoyable than walking - anything is better than taking the car!
