Hmmm....
Front gear cable outer from lever to downtube fitting was bent sideways at the downtube fitting.
I reckon the guy with the Trek 1.2 just yanked his bike to get it out and caught my gear cable.
Just like a car park, no note of apology.
Took bike to Vehicle Test Operations garage at work.
Stripped out cable and the plastic ferule had split with strands of metal reinforcement sticking out. Snipped it off neatly but a bit shorter, rethreaded inner cable through with a bit of lube and made the necessary cable clamp changes at the mech end.
15 minutes delay to a lovely evening ride home.
