Whilst out on a mock test today with my instructor, I was traveling along a country road (national speed limit) at about 55mph. As I was approaching a house on the right, I noticed a car in the driveway reversing out. I came off the gas as I didnt know what he was going to do and noticed a car coming in the opposite direction.
Suddenly he accelerated out in reverse and stopped facing oncoming traffic. He then swerved into my lane when he moved forward, causing me to brake hard. He also caused the other traffic to brake hard. He then accelerated away at speed.

To the guy in the white Audi: You are a friggin danger to everyone else on the roads.

Why is it always Audi drivers?

Next time don't slow down, he probably took that as an invitation to reverse out into your path. Next time try speeding up, headlights on full beam with one hand on the horn, Audi stylee. If you can't beat 'em; join 'em. Maybe better to wait until after you pass your test before trying this .

Why is what always Audi drivers?
In my experience it isn't always Audi drivers. I had to brake hard to avoid a learner in a Fiesta today. And then there was a VW polo yesterday. In fact, come to think of it....it is rarely Audi drivers.

I think cars come with preconceptions of the type of driver in them, that’s why in my granny car, Nissan mica I always have people up my arse or pulling out on me as they expect me to be driving super slow.

Gas? What's the gas? Was it laughing gas, shouldn't be using that whilst driving, tut.
'Gas' tends to be used during driving lessons as its quicker to say than 'accelerator' when things need to be said quickly due to fast changing driving conditions of a learning environment.

poor bloody example of a driving instructor then....hazard perception means that the instructor should be able to spot things happening a lot sooner than a learner and should have lots of time to respond. If not, get a better instructor.

The driving described in this thread seems to represent the very worst of all that is wrong with the world today.

Road hogs and throttle merchants at every turn, with no strategy beyond the simple imperative of getting there fast and getting there first.

Loons and murderers the lot of them!

Frankly, the chap in the Audi who pulled out doesn't seem much better either....

Well done Matthew, for seeing the potential hazard and reacting before it became impossible to stop in time!

My sister got to do a real emergency stop on her actual test, when the back doors of the van in front came open and a box fell out!
