Last evening I was going to catch the ferry but was a little late and when I arrived at the ferry station the cars and passengers were already onboard and the crew were preparing to cast off the ropes. I shouted to hold the gate open and without slowing down put one hand into my back jersey pocket to get out the money for the fare. Just as I did this I hit a large bump and at precisely the same moment the wall, complete with iron railings, jumped out and hit me. I therefore hit it with my left arm and shoulder and during the impact my watch was stolen from my arm. Fortunately I got the watch back and the bike was not damaged but I missed the ferry. However the pain from the embarrassment and the laughing of the ferry station staff was extreme!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ouch! When I went to Arran a couple of years back I sped down the String Road to get the ferry only to get stuck behind a Suzuki not so Swift. When I got to the ferry the gate was still open but one of the ferry station staff had her hand on it about to close it. I thought she'd let me on board I was wrong, 3hours wait for the next one :-(
