I take it that the door is at head height? Swap it for a door from under the work-top and it wont be as noticeable

Are you trying to tell us you wife would have prefered a short screw over the kitchen worktop rather than the long screw that she got ?

Unbelievably I got away with it (sort of).

I lifted the laminate with a scalpel blade, then squirted super glue behind it, and pressed it back with a piece of wood and a G clamp ( Good call JC). Then swapped the door for one lower down and more "hidden"

There is a small area of damage, but it's not particularly obvious....That's me by the way, nothing to do with the door. ;)
