Dear young lady, young and niave and quite likely to end up under my wheels
I rode off from green and it seems you didnt see your red
Must have imagined it inside your head.

I'm now slowed, with a begruntled driver in tow
Because you just aint looking
My first chance I swing right past
And yes I did give you an evil glance!

Dear young lady, next time please WAIT at red!
Before you end up f***ing dead!

-

Two pedestrians running our from my right
I swing left to be met with two to my left
Pincer attack in full sight!
I just managed to clear the gap my wheels nimble and deft.

-

(Just two things that happened to me today, that need not have happened. )

Oh was it suicide day for you too then  Everywhere I went today peds and drivers seemed determined to run in front of me, or jump lights, or generally be stupid.

Well.. one young woman ended up muttering something rather rude to me when I rang my bell on the cyclepath she was walking on. Well she and another 20 or so people, rather curiously leaving the pavement empty.

You forget - pedestrians have right of way EVERYWHERE, especially if they are important buisness types in suits going to some 'very important meeting' probably about what car to buy next.

you may joke, but they do actually have right of way in the shared use cycle paths (it's been discussed on here elsewhere) and it's best to think of permitted routes as permission to use, same as driving across that bit of pavement at the end of your driveway.

In contrast

I set off this morning on my 8 mile commute
No swearing was heard or angry horn toots.
No close overtakes or SMIDSYs were seen
Just me and a grin on my two wheeled machine

The wind from behind gave me a push
I seemed to just glide without trying to rush
It was one of those days when everything goes right
Just hope it's the same on the way home tonight.

Love both poems! Have to say that the pedestrians take their lives into their own hands, especially around Cannon Street and London Bridge.

Yesterday was bad for drivers, me (in my stepdads car), 1st we were cut up on a dual-carrway, 2nd a driver wanted to pull into OT lane as we passed, gave us a dirty look for not letting him out, then when we'd passed proceeded to carry on in inside lane, and 3rd, car in front swerving all over the lane. Drivers eh...

Thanks DF

I don't normally do poems. You must have inspired me.
Incidentally, the ride home was a bit pants with a headwind but it takes a bad journey to appreciate the good ones.
