The other day a pop-up popped-up to announce updates were available for my Debian distro - not unusual, happens a couple of times a week. usually says there are a few packages to upgrade, will take a minute or two. Imagine my surprise when it announced about 1600 packages, and 1.6 GB of upgrades!

I cancelled, and tried again, with same result. Never a prob before, so I assumed it would be ok. So off I went -- and eventually realised that my whole distro was being upgraded. It would have been nice to have been warned: to have been pointed at a "readme" or release notes or something.

Anyway, after a couple of hours, it had completed, and I could log in (pleased to see Open Office upgraded to v 3).

But .. no sound, from anything! Not from youtube clips, not from music tracks stored on my machine. A trawl of the internet shows there a re quite a few not happy bunnies experiencing the same problems.

Is anyone (other than me) on this forum unlucky enough to have upgraded Debian to "squeeze", and got their sound working?

Cheers (or not, actually)
