In proper English, it means 'a little bit', or 'moderately'
In Canadian English it means 'very'.

A friend of mine, having camped outside Kirkwall hospital in order to spend all day every day for a week with a sick Canadian girlfriend, fetching her every whim, nearly left her when she was asked if he'd been looking after her and she said "yes, quite well".

What about its meaning in music?
(rummages for score of Beethoven's Appassionata, which is marked Allegro Assai literally 'Quite quick'):

It's that fourth line of semiquavers that does for me. 'Quite', indeed!

Yes, I just had a look in the Collins Cobuild dictionary and it lists 5 distinct uses for /quite/ depending on the context.
