Hi all... Thinking of getting a new bike this summer and absolutely torn between these two... Both have 105... same price point.... I don't know loads about Merida but hear that there frame quality is exceptional and the merida also comes with fulcrum wheels.... Giant, well it's a giant... Great groupset with ultegra shifters but wheels nothing to write home about... Any opinions would be great... I have sat on both and like both now it's what offers best value for money and that's where I need you guy's

My gut says Defy, but you need to ride them to decide.

'Giant' means almost unsurpassed standard of build and finish on the frame, and they're the masters at mixing and matching the most effective (not necessarily the shinier) spec for the money. 'Just' a Giant is a standard most manufacturers would give their left nut for.

Merida is the OEM for Specialized and they own 49% of it. They use to be OEM for Raleigh while Giant also began life as an OEM. They are the 2 giants of the Taiwanese Bike industry. Tough choices.

Nothing wrong with Merida. I bought a Merida Scultura 904 recently and I'm very happy with it.

Can you get a test ride on both of them? At that sort of level all bikes are going to be decent so it's about what fits best.
