Dentist verses Wheels......

Last week you may or may not be aware (depends if you read the thread on it) I had a freewheel problem.... which almost scrapped my back wheel, the problem has now been sorted and the wheel is okay..... I had contemplated buying a set of Fulcrum 7's at £150..... very soon (and was trying to convince Mrs V they were a good idea)....

But over the weekend I lost a filling and brought forward next months check-up at the dentist to get it sorted....

Due to complications with the filling, normal metal filling would now be too close to the nerve and would probably come out anyway. (And the dentist wasn't even keen on filling it anyway as the cavity is now very large and the tooth wall very thin) he had to use a non N.H.S polymer filling add to this the check up and hygienist's appointment I left about £150.00 lighter.... Irony or what....

I came back in a bad mood and the conversation with Mrs V went like this.....
Mrs V: Why are you so p*****d off
Me: Iv'e just spent £150... at the dentist....
Mrs V: so you can't really afford them wheels now......
Me: NO!!!!!!!!!!
Mrs V: You need to get your priorities right.... You'd rather spend £150 on wheels...... than your health?
Me: YES.... and that's why I'm P****d off ......
Mrs V::rolleyes:

On the bright side she has approved the use of the 'Tin gag....' I get a tin money box and fill it with any notes and coins I can spare without affecting the family finances (credit cards are used for extreme emergencies only and I can't convince her wheels fall in to this category) and I can buy them with her blessing:smile: (which is how the Defy 2 was purchased....) she said you might be able to afford them for next spring...... I've got news for her its going to late summer this year.....

A Nice set of wheels or tooth pain ....Umm its a hard one to call !

As long as I breathe, I attack.
I hear ya , i had plans for some extra bits with a bonus later in the year but as i have lost a few molars on one side that all went bad one after another since i had my wisdom teeth surgically removed a few years back as they were growing in horizontally .So i am looking at a partial denture in the future , thankfully its a band 3 nhs treatment that is a maximum of £214 ( atm ) .
C2W has just been announced again at work and my immediate boos told me about it before the brief was due to come out but swmbo would hit the roof if i had another bike as we really need a new kitchen which i curtailed a few months back due to finances.

The annoying bit is.... it wasn't even hurting yet.... I suppose it would have eventually though.....

The dentist only gave it a slightly better than 50/50 on it working though (amalgam filling was 100% won't work mate don't even bother trying....it will either fall out within 6 months or you will end up with an abscess the size of a malteser........)

You don't need teeth to drink from your bottle or suck on an energy gel!

I pulled my own tooth out once . I thought my eye was going to come out with it . It only hurts for a day after so next time MTFU and buy the wheels
The problem is I'm already missing more teeth than I care to admit (okay its 4...... all right......) and I'd like to try to keep hold of the rest for as long as possible.... (I did try a partial denture once and really couldn't get on with it....)

It's my own fault as I hadn't been to the dentist for quite a few years until my mid 30's about 10 years ago..... and when I registered with a new dentist, the receptionist called me back and said 'I don't understand the date you have put down for date of last appointment at previous practice?" I replied "Whats not to understand? it says 1985"
