I always use the OS monthly calendar picture (available here).

Here's the February picture...

Funny thing is - setting this pic. as the background fits the screen just correctly.

Whereas - doing it from the site i couldn't find the proper size !

Somehow the webpage detects your screen resolution and displays it above the list of options.

My laptop screen is 1280 * 800 and there is an option for that. My desktop screen is 1440 * 900 so I use the 1280 * 800 on that too, but centre it with a border round it where my desktop icons reside.
