Did you ever forget to check the weather ?

I have been keeping an eye on the extended forecast all looked good, +1C for Saturday morning. I had not checked the weather in about 24 hours when I headed out this morning. I was expecting a cold yet tolerable -16C what hit me like a ton of bricks was -27C and I was headed into the wind. 3 hours later me ears are still stinging.

i'm not bleedin' surprised you have stinging ears in those temperatures. We are lucky that in the UK we get no where hear those type of minus temps.

I experienced -18 in new York several years ago and that was bad enough.. I can't even imagine -27 on a bile

Eeek! I've just found an on-line calculator that gives a chill of -40C if cycling at 15mph with no headwind.

At the start of a ride it was -9C.
I recall hacking the ice off my tash and goaty beard.

My 'no fear' younger days so every day was a fun one.

Eeek! I've just found an on-line calculator that gives a chill of -40C if cycling at 15mph with no headwind.

I beleive that at -40 if you throw a hot cup of water in the air from a cup it will have vaporised before it touches the ground ! eek Im feeling bloody cold just thinking about it

What we used to do was take hot water in a Styrofoam cup with a lid on it and throw it grenade style at the pizza delivery car. As the cup arcs through the air it leaves a vapour trail. When it hits the car the cars get covered in steam, looks like an explosion.

I once saw -28 in Berlin. I remember seeing my breath sparkling, but not a lot would get me cycling much below zero.....!
