Yup, PDQ rear tyre deflation.

Haven't got a clue what it was. It wasn't just a pinhole, it was a 15mm long gash in the apex of the tread.
I checked the road for glass - nothing. Nails - nothing ????

Stashed the bike behind someone's hedge and speedmarched home 5 miles in 55 mins to get car.

Now I've ordered 2 x Schwalbe M+ 37-590s ( 26 x 1 3/8") from St John's St.
That's a givaway. Anyone on here from SJS will twig my identity.

 Got to laugh, the bike's DOUBLED in value.

Schwalbe M+ s fitted.

Bloody hell they're heavy.

Swapped wheels from another bike. Maybe 1/2 lb lighter each. Narrower rims although still chromed steel. Younger Sturmey hub, July 1996 instead of September 1982.

The Raleigh Record tyres that were on the bike, I pulled off without levers. The S M+ were a bit of a struggle to get on and seat niceley, which is better cus now I can pump them up to 70 psi.

I've got Schwalbe M+ s with tubes filled with BikeDoctorX (slime). If I get a P* now, the bike's going on the skip.
