Hi everyone,

Ive recently bought a new bike and it has QHD-4 hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm rotors. When reading about it i saw this:
The QUAD QHD-4 "AXIS" entry level Dual piston caliper & Master Cylinder ( BMC ) is based on the QHD-5 "DIME XC" brake but still retains superb bite and deceleration characteristics at a more affordable price. The one piece caliper body has been designed on the mono bloc principle and has a direct entry hose out of harms way.

What does "mono bloc principle " mean? Also anyone have any thoughts on these brakes, good, bad?

Thanks

The caliper is made from one piece not two halves bolted together.

It's easier and cheaper to make a caliper out of two pieces and then bolt them together but you loose a little bit of braking power due to flex.

Haven't a clue about the brakes. I would be slightly worried about the availability of pads / spares.
