Dishwasher ...no water?

I have a quite old whirlpool adg934 dishwasher that is going through a cycle but no water.

The start light was flashing but manage to get it to go to a cycle......it goes so far then stops as no water is being fed into it.
Inside the dishwasher itself is the bottom spinner thing with a filter (which is clean) then to the left is another chamber with a plastic screw top on it (approx. 2-3") which has water in it.....any suggestions

Reminds me..i need to replace the circulation pump on our lg washing machine ..

your dishwasher has probably got a valve fault..solenoid etc..
