Distracted teens texting and driving

To be fair to teeneagers, it is not just them. Cycle past a queue of traffic and look how many drivers are distracted from the road by their phones. Its a scarey thought that so many people think that it is ok and do not bat an eyelid when confronted about it.

Sadly, teens always have and always will do silly things, that is why their insurance is so high.
When i look back to my teen years i was a terrible driver, too fast, very dangerous, i got away with it, but some dont.
I dont know how you stop it.

How many points do I get for a young woman in a Volkswagen with a small terrier in her lap and an iPhone in her hand turning right from a minor to a major road before veering into a mandatory cycle lane?

Make it a banning offence, like drink driving. Half will suddenly toe the line, the other half will find themselves on the bus.

simple way to stop them .... caught on phone = car crushed :okay: you bet that would get there attention

Sod getting a bus I'll just carry on driving and I will save a fortune not having to tax and insure the car anymore!
In fact now money isn't so tight (from Tax/Insurance saving) I can drive faster as I can afford the extra fuel now.
I quite like driving now as I haven't got a licence to lose any more.

Be careful what you wish for...

Do you honestly believe that? nothing will stop them as it will never happen to them, they will never have an accident until they do & it will be somebody esle's fault even if there is nobody within a mile of them

...if only there was a goverment run organisation to tackle this...

I agree, if only there was.

Unfortunately due to budget cuts, the entire traffic police for my force - a large one with a number of large metropolitan cities - has just been cancelled, and transferred over to the control of Central Motorway Policing Group.

Oh, I know...didn't mean anything by that...down to government to provide the funds at the end of the day and all they seem to want to do is cut funds...quite shocking really...people tend to be on best behaviour when Police are around anyway though...probably more of a society issue in that case...if someone sends a picture or video clip to the police and / or DVLA, of someone doing any of those things though, is it an automatic fine / caution / points / driver awareness course thing?

Quite frustrating that nothing ever seems to come of anything unless someone dies and would be nice if people were named and shamed, or something.
