I have an old raleigh scorpio,,circa 1980s,that I am attempting to bring back to life.I am trying to remove the cassette and wondered what tool was required,its a shimano mf-tz20 6 speed with 12 notches,checking this site Ithink it maybe fr1 or fr5 http://www.parktool.com/category/freewheel-cassette, any thoughts,thanks

You say "cassette" ... it's perhaps more likely to be a "freewheel" with a bike that old ... simplest solution is to ask the guy in the bike shop to take it off for you.

[You probably know this, but : "cassette" is a set of cogs that fits on a freewheel mechanism built into the hub; a "freewheel" has the mechanism in the cogs bit and just screws onto the hub]

I count 12, so the FR1.2 should be the one to use.
The FR5 is for a cassette lock ring and won't work.

However if you buy a freewheel at a bike shop and take in your
wheel, I think its fair enough they should get it off for you.

As above - have you checked the hub bearing races first? If they are shot then the hub is toast anyway.
