Just got a new Spesh Tarmac, love it... Absolutely love it  it been dry that last couple of weeks when commuting but they gritted last night so decided to take ye old commuter this morning. Spent the whole ride into work moaning about road buzz, rubbish brakes, vague steering blah blah blah.

Its not a bad bike, http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w325/bigjim_078/Road Bike/DSC01151.jpg but the lack of clearance for full guards has always bothered me so I've spent the last few hours pouring over evans and the LBS's website looking at alternatives and the genesis croix de fer seems to tick the box's for a good all weather commuter, disk brakes, steel to soak up road buzz & full guard clearance.

If I sold my Trek it would pay for a bit of it, selling it to the wife is going to be much harder !

What do you think ? N+1 or make do with the trek for summer then invest later when the dust's settled with the o/h xD

Your bars are very high on the Trek, which would explain steering if compared to the new bike. Saddle looks rather low too - possibly too big !

No idea why, but I'm over stretched on the Trek but bang on with the tarmac.
Just done a quick compare, the frame geometry on the trek is so different
