Do I still need a camera?

My last mobile produced perfectly acceptable pics, but my new one - a mid-range Samsung - is just in a different league. So much so that I seriously wonder whether I even need to carry a separate camera anymore. This isn't even full-frame - maybe 80%.

Depends how snappy you are. I had a half decent digital camera from back in 2009 that wasnt so good when compared to higher end mobile phones. I still got a new camera anyway because I still plan on cycling to different parts of the UK and taking snaps and as good as mobile phones are how good the pictures they take are situational. for quick snaps then a mobile phone with a decent camera is ok. but if you want something more refined for either taking snaps in low light or whatever then theres always a digital camera.

I dont have a DSLR mind you -- Just a small mid range compact made by Panasonic. thats all i'll ever need

I like my camera for the zoom, mobile just enlarges the image and doesn't use a real zoom. Out on the bike I just take the phone everywhere else I take the camera.

Get a mobile like those Nokia ones and the resolution is so high it works as a zoom in PP.
