Today I rode on the promenade on my road bike and the feel of not knowing with certainty if you are going to stay on the bike or hit the floor was thrilling

I've done this many times and I've had a few falls but nothing to cry about.

No because I don't want to accelerate the wear of my bike's transmission.

Got quite used to doing it in Rhyl & Prestatyn. But then I don't really care about my bike's transmission, although I did clean it afterwards.

Deflate your tyres to half pressure and lean hard into bends, all the fun without the need to go to the seaside.

I don't like sand. I did a bit of cyclocross for a few seasons, there isn't often sand on UK courses but when there was (and it often was a long-jump pit!) I often found myself eating it. The trick was indeed to let the bike do it's thing and concentrate on the pedalling.

Some sections at Thetford MTB trail are rather beach-like... Especially the corners.

I'm beginning to think that you are as daft as me SW, just in a different way :okay:
Once rode my mountain bike on the beach here & never again. certainly wouldn't dream of a road bike on the beach

Must confess, I'd have done more, especially since the tyres seemed well suited to it, but at that stage I didn't have that much experience on the bike.
