Do you use knee/elbow protectors on the road?

Hi,

I am asking this because I recently crashed (thanksfully at low speed) with my road bike, using clipless touring SPD shoes (I badly negociated cornering and touched the ground with the interior pedal). Although there are no more damage than bruised knees and elbow, I realised how useful knee protectors would have been. Although they usaully equip MTB riders, do you use them on the road for touring? Are there discreet ones, that do not make you look weird or like Robocop?

you will hate them. pedal strike is a schoolboy error - just don't crash

Lift the inside pedal as you turn. And pads would bang my tribar arm rests. And look twattish. Even on the one occasion I fell off my roadbike (in 8 years) they prob would not have helped

I grazed my knuckles once so decided to start wearing boxing gloves... then i couldn't brake too well so ditched all protective gear.

Thanks for your answers.
@HLaB: She misses elbow protection, this is immediately noticeable. ^_^

The only adult cyclist I ever seen wearing them was the receptionist in a company I where I used to work. She was middle aged and very heavy and suddenly went on a fitness kick and used to arrive in every day on an old city bike wearing helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and all sorts of protective stuff.

People nick-named her Robocop:rolleyes:
