I remember getting to 4000 on my cycle computer, stopping to take a picture, and then realising I didn't have a camera on me! Irritatissimmo...

I was thrilled to see 100,000 miles come up in the van. Now that it's on about 143,000, according to last week's MOT, I am too scared to look for fear of tempting its immediate death.

Yep. Watched my bike roll around 200 miles so far in 2011 a few days ago.

I had a Merc van that was very troublesome and had loads of warranty work and watched it go around 100,000 miles while driving to Chester. On the return trip the alternator went and had to be replaced under warranty (done that day). Then the engine blew a piston/conrod a few days and less than 300 miles later so had a new engine from Merc, again under warranty. I think passing 100,000 miles was a big psychological step for that van and it didn't like it!!!

I used to drive a Rascal van and took photos of 'milestones' like this...I have a print somewhere of the mileometer at 7777.7. It was taken in Wealdstone, near Harrow, and, as the numbers slowly came around I pulled in.
I was outside house number 77 - which I also took a photo of.

I also took 8888.8 in the drive of a Chinese customer of mine, with her daughter's numberplate in the background. They were ecstatic - ultimate good luck.

Soon after, the head gasket blew and smoke got in my eyes...

No, it never occurred to me. My Toyota van has done c. 125,000, I just hope it goes on being reliable!

Many years ago ... our first (2nd hand) car - and we were in Scotland on the outskirts of Edinburgh when we noticed it was very near - so we turned into a quiet side road and drove up it until it ticked over to 100000 and took photos of that moment!!! On the subsequent ones (3 more cars since), we haven't noticed.

I did when it happened on the Bike ODO... and stopped to take photos of the moment when certain number line up.
