I nearly did the same last night. I was coming up the steep hill near my house when 2 lads came flying down the hill on one bike. One on the saddle one pedaling. As they went by one shouted 'WHY YOU WEARING ALL THAT GEAR YOU KNOB!'.

They can't have been more than 14 and full of gob. I resisted (maybe because I see a fair amount if gob every day I was able to), but it sure was close that I didn't. I nearly spun around and chased them in order to 'supplement their education!'. I steamed up the hill doing that annoying thing of rehearsing what you would have said for the rest of the journey and a few hours afterwards.

Nothing winds me up more than gobby lads, its the hardest thing in the world to resist. And who knows, sometimes a mouthful back might let them know that they can't do what they want? I would never have said anything like that to anyone at that age. God I sound old now huh?

It isn't just children, sometimes adults are worse. When I was working locally I used to cycle along a cycle path as it cut through an estate making my journey to work shorter. Unfortunately the path went straight past a junior school. When the mothers saw me coming along they would purposely spread out across the path blocking my way and completely ignore my request to pass.

I never once got angry or showed any kind of reaction, I just smiled and thanked them when they finally moved. Eventually I left a bit earlier to avoid them. I find people like that a bit sad to honest and thank my lucky stars I am not one of them, after all, how miserable does your life have to be when the only enjoyment you can get is from behaving like that.

A few years ago I approached a group of young lads who were playing football in the road.

All but one moved to one side of the road or the other.

The lad remaining - presumably for a dare - bent over, dropped his trousers and showed me his backside.

Silly boy, some men of my age would see that as a leisure opportunity.

He wasn't going far with his trousers around his ankles, so I cycled past without any problems.

Forgot about this until now. A group of lads on Chorlton water park shouted "is that en electric bike mate".

I was mortified.

I think I said - don't be effin stupid. Those things are ridiculous. I got a laugh from them which was good,

To answer the OP i think we are all capable of losing it at some time or another..i know i have.....forget it and put it behind you as at the end of the day if he had kept his mouth shut it wouldn't have happened in the first place.
Seems to be plenty of idiots out there trying their luck to try and be intimidating/hard in front of their friends....no matter what age.....i'd even go as far to say they seem to be getting younger....i have two teenagers and i know if they bad mouthed anyone and i got to hear about it.......well we wont go there eh.

I cycle very near two schools on my commute home.....i try to avoid leaving work a certain times just to avoid the oiks coming out and swamping the shared paths. A couple of months ago i was cycling home and the school had come out so lots of kids walking down the pavement towards me one decides to hold his arm out in front of me whilst i am on the road doing about 18mph in a forty zone with lots of traffic. The road here is not that wide and has plenty of pinch points in the form of islands which make this stretch crap at the best of times. He got a hard stare and called a twat in front of all his mates...shouldn't have but the consequences could have been serious. There are numerous other instances which i have just ignored.

So I lost my rag, I stopped the bike sharply and jumped off - leaving the bike in a heap on the floor, and moved quickly towards the boys (not sure if I run or not), one of the boys shouted "RUN", and the other boy legged it about 50 yards up the road.

I know it's tempting to let the red mist descend, but I'd be very wary of leaving my bike unattended in a situation where there are several retards.
Twonks like that are looking for a reaction, so don't give them the satisfaction of getting one.

"He was riding, for some retarded reason on my side of the road, and made no effort to move to the correct side despite seeing me. Oh how I wish I'd had a stick to thrust through is front spokes. But sense prevailed, and I let it go."

Might be for personal reasons but I personally hate the word retard or retarded and thought we left the 70s a long way behind. Nope not trolling just do not like that word

Best bit about teaching was quitting and being able to be rude to all the crappy kids on the last day/week.

Hi guys & girls,
On the way home there was a couple of boys (18 years old) kicking a ball across the main road- here we go I thought. Well as i went by one, of the boys run across the road, at me, he stopped about a foot away from me and shouted at me. I swived as I thought he was going to hit me :-( (I don't think he was intending on hitting me, he was just playing up.)

So I lost my rag, I stopped the bike sharply and jumped off - leaving the bike in a heap on the floor, and moved quickly towards the boys (not sure if I run or not), one of the boys shouted "RUN", and the other boy legged it about 50 yards up the road.

I threatened the boy and the other lad started shouting at me so I throw a couple of words and threats back at him also- hence the silly. The boys continued to threaten me, until I jumped back on the bike.

The interesting part, the boy who did not run, started shouting at me - "you shoudn't be f**king threatening a 14 year old, I will phone the police and get you arrested next time". I thought both boys were easily 18, but it was dark.

I am a little concerned that this may escalate when I cycle home from work again later this week. How would you guys have handled this situation, I just seen red - I should know better @ 30 years old.

Kelvin

Scum kids, spawn of scum low life that are on Jeremy Kyle who would happily ruin some one's life.

You should have shouted back "14, it's past your bedtime, you should be in bed!"

I nearly ran over a kid of no more than 12 last April because he looked at me then ran in front of me. His "mates" left him while I verbally destroyed him about how stupid he was and that if I was a car he'd have been dead.

I was 19 at the time - not that it really matters, but I don't feel guilty about it. Chalk it up to just one of those days.
