I just had to repair a puncture on a front wheel. the small hole was on the outside so it was probably a bit of flint.
But while checking the tyre and rim I noticed that there was no tape covering the access holes to the spokes and where the holes had been drilled there were some small burrs. How the tube hadn`t been punctured by those burrs I`ll never know. Anyway, I emery clothed the burrs and the only thing on hand was some insulating tape so I ran that around the rim. The holes were around 7mm and I`m no bike mechanic but at 65psi I would have thought that the tube would have been trying to get out of those holes at that pressure.

What`s your take on that?

They'd have been making a bid for freedom, certainly!!!!
Get some Velox cotton rim tape. Costs about a pound a roll, fit it, forget it. It's that good.

I used electrical tape once and it was perfect for the lifetime of the bikewelll for

so burrs and bare holes didn't puncture the reasonably low pressure tube?
now you've de-burred it and taped it up, you're wondering what'll happen?

you've sorted it out, so stop worrying:smile:
