Banshee is on Fox, I reckon it's the most violent series ever made: I'm taking Spartacus out of the equation because that was cartoonish.

I've seen Downton, there has been a lot of death and tragedy in it too, although I imagine it is as cliched as anything, and yes, there are historical and continuity errors, especially when they take the train.

As far as Sunday night easy viewing goes, I've seen a LOT worse (not that I am a great fan of Sunday 'easy viewing').

Well, I have never heard of Banshee, but it sounds awful..... Maybe I should start a thread about something I haven't seen too!!

Highclere Castle, the setting for Downton, is on some of my cycle routes when I fancy a few hills (soft southern ones of course). Never seen any of the cast, although I reckon I might have ridden through one of that dead labrador's dog eggs once.

Bansh is uber violent but there's something compelling about the acting, it's a fine cast. Mrs 3Bm likes the series and she hates grat-vi.

Banshee works because the all the main characters have such intriguing backstories, and the use of flashback serves to add to that intrigue. Pretty much every one could carry a spin offer series IMO.

Both right above. The acting, writing and cinematography are all top notch.

It was weird when they changed the credits for a single episode.
