I like to hear regional accents too, its a shame many of them are dyeing out due to people using the queens English more.

No if you go to Wigan, some places in Yorkshire and Lancashire you still have the local dialect. Its interesting to listen too.

Bumpkin is still widely spoken in a lot of rural areas here in Oxfordshire. In the towns it's more of an Eastender's stylee Laaahndahn innit.

As a foreigner in a strange land (Warwickshire lad exiled in Yorkshire) I love being able to differentiate between accents. If you tune your ear well enough, and be alive to subtleties of grammar, you can tell the difference between Halifax and Huddersfield for example, despite less than ten miles between them.

Hull can't be that bad, I understand and recognise nearly all those expressions with a bit of minor modification .
