Me: Oiiiiaaarrghoi!!! (Loud shout as, on approach to a red light, a van half overtakes then pulls into my path and puts his left indicator on)

Now stuck between his rear bumper and the kerb, I back up a bit and go round him, sitting at the stop line to his right.

Van driver: What's your ^&$%$& problem? (several more %£$%^£^ uttered throughout the 'conversation')
Me: You just cut me up even though you're turning left, why couldn't you wait behind me?
Van driver: Because I'd have been stuck behind you!
Me: No you wouldn't, you're turning left - and besides, my bike's quicker from the lights than a Transit
Van driver: Blah blah blah
Me (in exasperation): Oh, just learn to drive
Van driver (smiley face, confident he's found a point he can score): And there's you on a pushbike!!!
Me (condescendingly): I've had a driving licence for 35 years, what about you?
Van driver: Well, there you go then........


All in all nothing out of the ordinary, no particular reason to start a thread other than to have a rant.

Bloke on bike = bloke who can't drive therefore Driver > Bloke on bike

Similar to the tax arguement people make.

You are not driving therefore I assume you cannot drive. I'll also assume you don't pay road tax, what ever that is, and that you are a workshy left wing lune.

"If I was driving my car would you have done that?". "If it was your child on the bike, would you have done that?". "If it was a policeman on a bike would you have done that?" No? Sho why an i worth less then a car, child, policeman?

'Drivers' and 'logic' are two words I wouldn't expect to see in the same sentence tbh!
The 'Must Get Infront' thing is something I can never understand- it just demonstrates such complete inability by drivers to read the road conditions.
Indicating seems to be in increasingly rare occurence these days too.

TBH. If I admit to any failure now, it’s probably being too considerate/passive to cyclists, when driving. I’ve recently slowed to allow an oncoming bike to turn right and enter the junction I was about to enter on my left. Nothing behind me and in retrospect the sensible thing would have been to carry on, let him enter the junction behind me.

This way there were a few awkward seconds with the cyclist wondering “WTFs he doing?”

For that reason whenever I can I go to the middle of the road near junctions and traffic light just to stop traffic from cutting me up or even go in front of me.

lol so the logic is, if you're cycling, it means you can't drive ^_^

I mean, I have a license but I'm a terrible driver so I don't drive, which probably proves his point but to be honest, it is quicker for me to cycle to work than to drive in regardless. However, for every one of me there are people like my partner who cycles but has also driven as part of his job for years.

What do you think he meant by the 'well, there you go then..' was that the end of the convo?

Ah but...

If we are saying that cyclists may well also be drivers, but then saying that drivers do not think logically, are we not saying that cyclists also do not think logically.

If you think about it logically. Which I am not sure if I am capable of as a driver and a cyclist?
