Brings to mind the story in last weekend's Guardian magazine about a woman who was hit by a car doing 101mph. Her friend was killed. She barely survived, and faces a lifetime of pain and disability. The driver 'who I later learned had previous drink-driving convictions [and] had been racing another driver' ended up getting eight years. You just know he'll be out in four, and back behind a wheel the next day.

For those who don't know, the Tyne Tunnel(s) are narrow, twisty and subject to a 40 mph limit southbound and 30 mph heading north.

These clowns were seriously over that last year and have been sentenced to 15 month driving bans, which seems incredibly lenient given the stupidity of their driving...

Unbelievably stupid, and you're quite right,it does seem very lenient. What,if anything passes through the brain's of these cretins I shudder to think.

They would still drive. Some scrotes think they are above the law.
They would. It really brings out the fascist in me. Human rights bedamned, I'd sentence the guy to jail and add the rider that a) you're banned for life, and b) if you're ever found behind the wheel of a car again, your right leg will be amputated at the knee. Am I kidding? I am not.

I was going to say amputate their hands at the wrist. But i thought it might offend some.

Just viewed it. Yes dangerous and reckless, to say nothing of the stupidity of people who think that they are able to do that without detection, but the actual speed differentials when they met traffic weren't that great I'd suggest. Sentence about right.

I'd crush the cars of those who are banned. Commit any other dangerous crime involving a weapon and it'd be taken off you and ultimately destroyed, and four wheeled kinetic weapons should be no different.
15 month driving bans about right? I should cocoa. That's not a sentence at all.
No pedestrians, cyclists, or any others likely to be involved down there - something that's a highly aggravating factor on normal streets. Speeds relatively low relative to other traffic (no oncoming traffic of course). No, I still don't think that's at at the higher-tariff end of the spectrum for me. It's way at the stupid end for sure, though.

And one of them was in an Audi, quelle surprise. Where was it I read recently that Audi drivers are as an average more likely to have endorsements or convictions than the drivers of any other brand...?
