A workmate has managed to strip one of the threads on his frame, where the hanger mounts. It's a carbon frame with the threads in the frame, rather than the hanger itself. He has asked for help, but I don't feel comfortable providing help and he wants to get an idea on a fix price before going into his LBS.

Any ideas on what the best way to fix this is and what sort of price it should cost him?

LBS should be able to re-cut threads for him at a very small cost

If it is well knackered, they should be able to fit an insert, this is also a fairly quick and easy job, drill out to size needed for insert, screw insert into oversized hole, and it will have the correct thread for the bolt to screw back into. Its sometimes referred to as a Helicoil insert. If the LBS can't do it, then its not beyond the realms of anyone who can use a drill and follow the instructions that come with the helicoil insert, but the correct sized drill bit is a must.
