There are two different kinds of chips, and only two kinds. Chippy chips - salt and vinegar. Entirely acceptable for them to be soggy. Takeaway chips - chip spice, no vinegar. Must be crispy.

I think chip spice is a Hull thing, but everyone that I know who has lived here and moved away always takes a supply with them, so I don't understand why it hasn't spread across the whole country by now. Buying takeaway chips in another city is a very disappointing experience for a Hullian.

Best curry sauce for chips comes from Hull IMO.

Excuse me! There are no such things as chips, across the pond Atlantic. What they call 'chips', we would call 'crisps'. What they call 'fries' are like .... something you only get in American fast food outlets. They don't have chips i.e. chips. Subject closed.
