I bung mine in the freezer.Salting them is an alternative for preservation purposes.
Get yourself a fruit dryer. Useful for lots of other stuff such as fruit too.
I've pickled a load of mine.
Do the (relatively) cheapo ones work well? I've considered getting one but the ones I've seen have always been a lot dearer than that, and that, plus the need to store the thing somewhere when not being used, really put me off. I'd consider one at that price-ish if it worked well.
