I have a bumper crop of Chillies and need to know how to dry them. Any thoughts?

My traditional attempts have always met with failure - am going to try the oven this year.

Salting them is an alternative for preservation purposes.

I've pickled a load of mine.

And very tasty they are too!

Do the (relatively) cheapo ones work well? I've considered getting one but the ones I've seen have always been a lot dearer than that, and that, plus the need to store the thing somewhere when not being used, really put me off. I'd consider one at that price-ish if it worked well.

There's nothing expensive in them. Just a small heater, a fan to move the air over the fruit/peppers and a load of stackable fruit holders. We use ours a lot and have done for years. It was just a cheapie although we did get it from Switzerland before they became available over here.

I just ground all my chillies up as they are off the plant in my grinder I use for fishing, stuck them in an airtight jar and covered them in olive oil. Don't know what will happen but there is recipes online for doing it this way or similar.
