My niece is a nice lass, young (18), bit dim and seems to have a decent boyfriend.

Like all lads he's car mad.

She's recently posted on Facebook a set of mobile phone pics and a video of her and said boyfriend doing 120 mph on either a road or motorway (no private race tracks round here) - it's a minute or so long, and video's the Rev counter and MPH dials rising as he bats along (this in a 1.2 Corsa).

My wife hasn't seen it yet (it's her sister's daughter), but what would you do ?

I'm very tempted to give her and boyfriend a right roasting (her dad left the family some years back and hasn't bothered with them) as mum generally gives her a bit too much 'room'.

My SIL is around at ours tomorrow so can have a word them, but I'm very tempted to post a reply on her page - all the family would see it.

How much does it cost to Oldham?
I'd do both. Better you making them look like mugs than the coppers tearing them a new one.

Why wouldn't you report them to the polis?

Bit harsh, but they (police) have had prosecutions from evidence like this. I'm more tempted to give him a good slapping. So far I've just posted a note and mentioned about 'when the driver kills himself, make sure he doesn't hurt anyone else', and also the prosecution evidence. She'll probably poop herself, and come in for a stack of grief now from the family - grandad will probably go ape.

Anyone stupid enough to drive that fast on public roads then post a video of it on the internet should be reported to the Police.

Next time some poor unsuspecting innocent person/persons may pay with life for their little bit of "fun".

Imagine if they do it again and some young child is killed because of their stupid showing off, how would you feel.

Will a 1.2 corsa do 120 then?

EDIT: No it wont. Top speed of 106mph (for a new one) and that will be down hill with the wind behind you.

You giving him a slap won't stop him doing it again, it will only stop him posting it on facebook again. I would be reporting it to the police. He's a danger to other road users, and especially your niece.

Report it. I don't want to share the road with muppets like that.

Statistically, I hear the biggest killer of young women in the UK is their boyfriends, whilst showing off driving. Post that on her page, enough to get her thinking. I'd expect your objective isn't to stop them from posting video of their exploits on the Internet, but to stop them performing the exploits in the first place.

And a 1.2 Corsa will not do 120mph, maybe he's had it breathed on?

Oh, and make a copy of the video before you do anything else. If she bins him, you can follow up with a report to the police

Send it to the Police along with the details... let them decide surely?

I reckon a prosecution of sorts wouldn't come from the video (if it does, nothing wrong with that really - proper proper lesson), but a grilling from a copper might make them see sense (or just do it, without filming).
