Duplicate threads which .... aren't.

Is it really a problem to have similar threads running in parallel on here and over on the dark side (aka SC&P)?
Case in point being Scottish independence. A thread was started on here about it but was moved to SCP and has now been merged [*] into the 145 page thread of a similar nature already running "over there".
Some of us have neither the time or inclination to get bogged down in all that nonsense, but were quite happy to contribute to the watered down cafe version.
Just a thought.......

[*] Edit. My mistake, they haven't been merged at all. The cafe version which was moved has been locked.

Seriously though, some of us tend to stick to certain boards. There are 30 of them on this site after all! I don't tend to bother with SCP unless a thread from there appears on the "new threads" facility, which I do use.
