That's a hawker hurricane isn't it? There were a few of those up in the air as well.
Nope. They are Hawker Typhoons.

Naa it was the other typhoon, but they had Hurricanes and Harvards and Sally B B17 there and some bi planes. And a Chinook. But nothing matched the Spitfire. And the RAF did a fly by in a modern jet which was awesome tooNope. They are Hawker Typhoons.

...and that's not a Spitfire either, of course.Me and the girls saw the Typhoon & Spitfire display team at Cosford earlier this year. Unfortunately, it was a Typhoon in standard trim, rather than the drop-dead gorgeous Battle of Britain paint scheme:

I caught them circling over Anglesey Abbey, incredible noise!Definitely all 17 Spitfires flying again today, so no, no Spitfires were accidentally shot down yesterday. We took the dog out and joined the crowds watching them from the fields by Duxford village, and a group did later fly right over my house - followed shortly after by the Red Arrows.

I know a lot of this is about celebrating the Battle of Britain, but going slightly away from that and just off the OP but on a related theme, at the Southport air show yesterday, the Vulcan was escorted in by the Red Arrows before giving a display for 20 minutes or so. We were told this was the Vulcan's last ever flight, which is a great shame. The sight of it being escorted in by the Red Arrows was a thing of beauty; its solo display was simply captivating.
