I am the executor of a will of somebody who has recently died.

In order to apply for probate I need to make a list of all their assets and liabilities. These include any pension overpayments and underpayments.

I wrote to the DWP a month ago requesting this information but I'm still waiting for a reply. This is now delaying the probate application.

Does anybody know if DWP pensions are paid a month in advance or a month in arrears? If I know this then I will be able to work out any overpayments and underpayments myself.

I think it's usually paid four-weekly in arrears.

See this link:

However, if the deceased is being paid weekly then it may be being paid in advance.

Yes, the pension is paid four weekly rather than monthly, if the deceased is being paid pension credit as well that is weekly.
