Just read a couple of eBay related threads on here and it got me thinking - what's the most you've ever paid for or sold an item for ? And what was it ? Not just bike-related.

I think the most I ever spent was 300 quid on an out of print tarot deck and boy did I regret it 

The most I made was about 250 quid on a different rare tarot deck.

I always worry about non-payers, auction-wreckers etc.

The most I bid was £6990 :hyper: .....for a pair of sidi motor cycle boots...

Good job they had just introduced the new system of increment bidding, after that little boy bid on a mini you might remember it on the news!

I forgot to put the decimal point in  I did win them for the pricely sum of £103 and I could have bought a brand new pair for that price! still it taught me a lesson.......

Husband walked in just as I hit the button and noticed what I'd done there was quite a round of F**ks like the begining of four weddings and a funeral ha haa.

I bid a crazy amount of money on a charity auction for one of James Dean Bradfield's guitars. Thankfully I was outbid, but I learnt my lesson: never go on eBay when you've been drinking

Eeeeekk!!!

I'd been trying to buy a Pashley Uplus 2 for my sons, ready for when they outgrew their sit in trailer - 2 years of waiting & bidding, but everytime I got outbid - my limit was £350. Eventulay they had reached the weight limit of their old trailer & Cains head was touching the roof. I was wondering what we would do, Fynn was far too young to ride a bike & Cain can't.
I then saw a Trek Gobug listed the seller gave lots of internalmeasurements & I thought my bubs would have plenty of room in it. I paid £350 for it (would have been about £450 new) Drove to Winchester to collect it (about 60 miles) When I got it home I found that he had miss measured the seats & although my children could fit in it was a bit tight, although they did have lots more leg & head room than in their old trailer.
A few days later i got a phone call from a friend yelling at me to get on Ebay.. There was a Pashley about to end.. I knew, it was on my watch list & already at £450!! She was still yelling "No not that one, look up double trailer"
The seller had justed listed it as a double trailer, no other bidders - 10 minutes to go - I got it for £137 OMFG!
The one I had been watching went for over £500!
The bubs loved the Pashley, I kept the Trek thinking we would use it over winter, we never did, just lots of layers & all in one ski suits to keep my bubs dry.
I totaly forgot about the Trek in the garage untilt the following spring when having a clear out, I mutered about waste of money, silly rash purchase etc - So stuck it back on Ebay
I got £300 for it LOL!

I bought a Toyota MR2 for £300 with the intension of converting to electric drive. I got all my money back and some extra just selling the exhaust, rear spoiler and weighing in the engine for scrap. I am still selling off bits every now and again.

I also bought a Record planer thicknesser for my workshop. Paid £280 for it and found it was badly built and not much use. Sold it again for £350.

Sold a book about the SR-71 spyplane for £82.00 which only cost me £25.00 !!! Apparantly it was rare and out of print but to me it was just clogging up shelf space !
Also sold an un-built resin model kit i bought in Prague for £72.00 which cost me £30.00,was a good week for me !!!!

All my Ebay funds are spent on either bike stuff or family stuff so it does not affect the wages coming in

The first thing I sold was my MkII Golf Gti 8 valve. It was getting unreliable so GF gave me ultimatum to get something more befitting her. I didn't like the idea of scrapping it as it had served me well for about 10 years. I tried local auctions and scrap yards but only offered £30 (me to pay them) so put it on ebay.
After 6 days got first bid. Eventually it went for £137.01. Guy wanted it for the engine as he could see and hear it was working. He even gave me the penny.

And I knew the heart of my car was still beating somewhere.

He even gave me the penny.

A friend of mine sold a Chesterfield Chair. The start price was £0.99 and it attracted only one bid and so was sold for £0.99

The buyer came to collect (turned out she was a dealer).

She handed my mate a pound coin and waited, hand stretched out, for the penny change :|

In the early days of eBay I listed an old Smart Media adaptor (£75 quid new in those days). It ended with a bid for nearly £100 so I emailed the buyer with a list of places he could get the new one @ £75 and cancelled the transaction.

What a mug am I.

I've made £5500 from a bike sale, and paid £1250 on a bike purchase, but both bikes had engines.

Our firearms dept changed scope systems on the rifles, and had a large number of Schmidt&Bender scopes which they sold off. I bid on one for my stalking rifle and got it for £75, an absolute bargain. I used it for three or four years and then needed to finance a new rifle, so the Schmidt had to go. It sold on the bay for £475.

Cubester sold his pool table to finance his Ragley. I paid £80 for it two or three years ago, and we got £230 for it.
