Not sure this is the right forum, but how is the following possible?
From my Garmin on today's ride
13.1 mph - Avg Speed
13.0 mph - Avg Moving Speed
19.3 mph - Max Speed

Likely GPS drift whilst your Edge is auto paused caused that.

I’ve set my garmin to record an “ outdoor walk “ and subsequently forgot to press the “ finish activity “ button. It’s only when the watch buzzes to indicate the next km that I realise the activity is still running. The GPS trace resembles a load of scribbles around a central point. I’ve seen GPS drift best explained as going for a walk with a hyperactive puppy on a long lead.

The perimeters of when you are stoped are different I guess.
My wife once went out for a run once, except Garmin decided it was a walk!!🤣🤣🤣

Yes, and if you have auto pause on, it can increase the distance travelled without increasing moving time, hence the discrepancy. Turn off auto pause and you won’t get the discrepancy.

I never use auto pause and I’ve found that Garmin does a pretty good job of working it out in the app with elapsed time and moving time. A friend I run with always pauses his watch if he’s waiting to cross a road, he’s done it since the days of Casio and Timex sports watches 🤔

Sounds alright if the Garmin is measuring air speed! (Like on an airplane).
