Sorry it was me who misread the links.... I thought you were looking for a drop bar bike but had accidentally linked to one drop bar and one flat. Can now see both were flat bars

Back to the basic question. A) decathlon generally is a great place to buy b) whichever you buy you can always retain as a second bike in a year or two

No problemo, I appreciate the advice. Decathlon does seem pretty decent, doesn't it - for my requirements at least. I've supported my LBS via my wife's and kids' bikes, plus various accessories, but this purchase, unfortunately, is destined for a multinational.

What happened was that I thought the cheaper one was drop bar and the pricier one flat. SO thought you were a bit confused. Personally I like a long lower down position even on flat bars, and agreed with the other commuters that drop bars does not have to equal head down.

That all said if I was doing serious commuting I would go for a flat bar bike with mudguards and a rack.

You're right, though; re-reading my reply, it could easily have been taken that way. Thanks again - I'm off to order the 500! :dance:The world is a happy place again!
it's easy on forums for any party to misconstrue meaning in a post...

I have done it myself & had a forum row, by & large though the CC chatters are a friendly & helpful bunch & it is much friendlier than some cycling forums.

:welcome: to CC &

enjoy your cycling, whichever bike you choose.
