Don't know if I asked this before, but what kind of spend would represent a decent electric bike?

There are a few at the £1000- £1500 mark that look ok, but the Specialised Turbo X at £2800 looks awesome!

Sometimes I think £2800 is ok, others I suddenly get a grip and think WTF?!?!? You are considering nearly 3 grand on a bike?!?!?

Buying an ebike is broadly similar to buying an ordinary bike.

You get what you pay for in terms of quality, and the type of ebike you want is dependent on your proposed use.

Having said that, the Specialized is over priced for what it is.

The direct drive rear hub motor is hardly ground breaking, and you could buy an all but identical motor wheel for about £100.

A decent battery - which the Spesh should have - is a few hundred, but I doubt the push bike components are worth £2K plus.

As a comparison, have a look at this Cube.

Another quality brand, it has the Bosch crank drive motor - rides more like a bike than a mini-moped - and a bigger battery.

All for £1,700.

Was looking at that bike earlier. That's the kind of advice I was after. Someone knowledgeable! I thank you sir.

I ride a 56cm road bike - trying to work out the equivalent, seems to be 17"? Or I may have that wrong.

i know how you feel . i have just brought a 650cc motorbike for £6000 and the wife has just got herself a trek for £2000 (awaiting arrival) and i look at what you get for your money and can not help thinking there is a lot more involved putting mine together then hers . mind you i was looking at the giant defy advanced pro 1 for £2600 so can not complain . if you can afford it and like it go for it but i would do a lot of research and looking around at that sort of money . make sure you test ride it first before you buy

You can ignore the ebike part for the purpose of sizing.

If you are buying a flat bar (e)bike it comes down to what size you take in one of those.

I'm no roadie, so have no idea if road bike riders generally take the same or a different size in a hybrid.

I think my Moto Guzzi 750cc Breva cost about that and I dont have to pedal it.
