I am much impressed by the triban3 as an entry level roadbike. For the money it seems to be about the most bike that is available. However if it turns out that my budget is more than I expect I would be very interested in looking at this carbon stuff I keep hearing so much about.
Can anybody recommend a carbon bike which is as good value as the triban3. Obviously I do not mean the same price but something that is equally impressive in terms of value and quality. Also not necessarily just the cheapest carbon fibre bike because I could find that quite easily and it could well be cheapest for a good reason. The buzz about the triban3 has come about because people have bought it and not found it wanting and so I was hoping there was some carbon equivalent about which there was a "buzz" (And by "buzz" I mean unsolicited positive chat and not the brakes rubbing on the tire:smile:)

Hells bells, that's quite some leap in price. I think I'll be sticking with ally or steel for the foreseeable future. I think even if I had £1,300 I wouldn't be able to bring myself to spend it all on a bike. I had some notion that carbon bikes were a bit pricey and as such have never even bothered to look at them. I didn't think they were quite that pricey though. I really thought that there would be something around the £750 sort of range. Carbon is after all very common. Coo, how silly do I feel.

Halfords have one for a grand as do decathlon with much better components. The triban 3 is pretty much all entry level and decathlon own brand. Hence it is so cheap
