Looks to be a great price given the spec.

For what it's worth, I also have the Ventura CP50 and it rides superbly, far better than my old aluminium Orange Dynamo. It looks the business too.
I'm sure it'll be back down to the sub-£400 August price before too long. I changed the stem, bars, pedals, tyres, crankset and calipers and now it weighs 8kgs. Not bad for £389.

So you spent how much? I'm betting the £389 + what you spent on parts = a decent bike without all the faffing about you've had to do.

Tony.

I actively enjoy faffing with my bikes, been doing it for years... and I think it's an invaluable way for any rider to understand their bike better, which is always a good thing.
The bars and stem were a single carbon until which I got for a steal and always wanted to try (and I needed a shorter stem to boot), I already owned the Look clipless pedals and racing tyres from my old bikes, I got a pair of mint SRAM Force calipers off eBay for under £35, a near mint Dura Ace 7402 crankset for under £40. If I ever feel like I can sell all the extra components (probably at a profit) and put the original ones back on. Baring in mind that the bike originally weighed well under 9kgs stock, even with the comedy pedals Argos supplied.
Each to their own but I'd be very surprised if you can get a better bike for under £500, and it rides beautifully.

Whilst I agree with your comment that it rides beautifully and is a bargain at £400, I weighed mine and got significantly higher readings at 9.7 kg (even the box it came in says 9.7 kg net weight although the argos blurb says 8.8kg) and its the smaller 55cm frame. Maybe my scales are reading wrong, but never the less it "feels" very lightweight to me and I'm well happy with it!
