euut tubing

The term " Gas pipe " to me implies a frame made of ordinary mild steel tubing rather than high tensile steel. Whether cycle frames have been made of mild steel I don't know.
I think a lot of it boils down to " You pays your money you take your choice".
When I was young I used to borrow my brother's Carlton which wasn't made of 531 steel but rode really well. When I started work I bought myself a Holdsworth Record with 531 plain tubing, I didn't notice any difference between them. Perhaps I am not a connoisseur.

A number of Sun machine were made using EUUT tubing, I have a couple, seems to my eye to be of good quality.

after 6 months of riding this bike i can testify that the tube seems to nice to ride, so much so i am now on the look out for another parkes but in a size to suit me better and i can maybe upgrade the gear set to a better period replacements.

There you have it, my A level let's me down again . Maybe I should have said something like yield stress and not the Young modulus.

I have a 1950s Holdsworth in 531 plain gauge and it's bendier than a bendy thing ....

Perhaps that's why they came up with the double butted thing.

I can't afford that much ....

I sympathise. The mean barstewards stopped us getting it on prescription.
