..well, only one "must get in front" approaching traffic lights - no biggie, I just went around and took primary in the space between him and the other car, partially devilment but mainly a "no, I won't be bullied"

The drivers weren't the issue, had a detour this morning, had a reasonably paced ride out towards Meadowhall, swapping places continually with another cyclist, but noticed an occasional mild lattering and some skipped gear changes. Pulled off the busier road to loop back and eventually a crunch as gears lock up - think the hanger is now bent as the gears were then almost unrideable on the way back - certainly no standing on the pedals, and any force up slopes or trying to get any kind of accelleration was skipping and crunching - managed to adjust so that I can use top bottom and middle sprockets without too much complaint

Then my zip got stuck on my jacket back pocket and the pocket ripped as I tried to get it open hands behind my back

My right eye was watering and stinging like hell in the wind but the right arm of my goggles had broken off inside my panniers

Now my Cateye light has gone tempremental again

EDIT: And now after the ride I'm constantly sniffing and clearing my throat. Hello cold - I would say i'd missed you but that'd be a lie

I had one on Tuesday on my way home.

I noticed a white half sized tranny van pass me too close about 1/2 mile away from a junction. Caught him up at lights. I went into the ASL. He then went forward so his front wheels were past the front of the ASL. Fecked if I am being bullied-moved my bike in front of his van.

Lights went on green, I moved off a little slower than normal then pulled left. He gave me a wide berth.

Tried that once in 2001 in Clapham. South London. Almost identical to your description but it played out like this....

Lights went on green, I moved off a little slower than normal then pulled left. He drove straight through me.

Ah, but you were in London where life's premium is just above zero.

Care to elaborate?

As I cycled off btw I did reflect on what might have happened - fortunately this time nothing did.
