Looking for some quality eyewear that offer sun protection and clear visibilty in low light.

I commute to work most days so I need some that allow me to see the potholes when it is dark.

Decided to put on my sunglasses this morning at 4:30 but soon got rid!

Ballpark figure of £150 but prepared to stretch if necessary.

Oakley seem to be a good brand but so many choices................

Nothing beats a tried and tested recommended product!!

Optilabs.
Have a great range of cycling glasses and offer a great service too.
Cost about £160 for prescription lenses with transitions.
They are also happy to supply you with some frames to try out first.

I have and like Oakley's.

I have some Flak Jackets with red iridium lenses, I have also got clear lenses for them for night cycling.

This would probably coming in at your budget with the extra lenses included.

I go for ones with interchangeable lenses. Dark, clear and yellow. You can't beat clear when dark. Yellow are good on a dull day but at night are not as good as clear.

Spending £150 makes no sense to me when there are plenty of decent glasses which will do exactly the same job for about £20.

Oakley are good fashion statement, if that's your bag, but who is going to notice on a bike?

Another point is cycling can be a harsh environment, Oakleys won't withstand being knocked or falling off and run over any better than cheaper glasses.

Thanks for the (mostly) helpful responses.

I do like the Flak Jackets and indeed the Fast Jackets. I also like the idea of having 3 interchangeable lenses as H71 suggested. Doubt I'll get either of those 2 models (with additional 3rd set) for under £200 but I'll look around.

Update:-£171 at wiggle for fast jacket with black and clear lenses best so far, so either try without yellow lenses or pay extra.

How do you find the clear lenses while night riding?
As clear as not wearing them, but with the protection of lenses for wind etc.

I would prefer clear for night. Yellow or orange lenses are often for contrast in dull conditions rather than night riding, or so I believe.

I am happy that with two lenses I have got my bases covered.

That's good enough for me.

Thanks

I've got 2 pairs of Mumbos that are over 20 years old, I still wear them on every ride (got to with Contact lenses)
The deeper lenses (Heater??) are yellow, & used for commuting.
There's quite a few scratches, but, they're there from when they saved my eyes when I hit an abandoned Metro (on an unlit national limit road) back in '97

I went through the rear window & ended up partially on the rear seat
