6:15 this morning, drizzly rain, pitch black in the middle of nowhere and the air in my rear tyre gets liberated by a piece of flint that has worked through (Conti Ultra Gator Skin tyres) Managed to replace the tube and get very grimy in the process.

At least thats lunchtime sorted, inflate the trye to the correct pressure, patch the holey tube and check the tyres for more grit and stones.

Unlucky
I had a visit this morning too, but fortunately for me the front tyre was flat when I went to get the bike out, so fixed it at home.

A small piece of glass had managed to work its way through the tyre, but was so small I only found it by lining the tube up against the tyre to pinpoint the exact spot.
Must start checking tyre after rides now, I feel that I have been a bit complacent.

This time of year, damp roads etc. these things happen. Here's hoping one doesn't visit me on the rear on the fixed in a dodgy area...think a 5 min change ain't happening on a fixed.... it might , but I'll be oily as well.

I was thinking about going home the other day when a colleague told me my front tyre was flat  (first time in two years), so left, changed the tube, found piece of glass in the tyre, pumped both tyres up hard, and set off. Ten minutes later the steering started going wobbly. Found a huge thorn in the front tyre (in a different place).;) I only take one inner tube to work, so I wheeled the bike at a fast pace and just got to lbs as they were pulling down the shutters and bought two more tubes.

Lunchtime came and I got prepared for getting the tyres to the correct pressure and fixing the failed tube. Opened the repair kit and found I had everything needed ..... except patches ;)

A very kind colleague gave me one of his spare tubes for on the way home

Moral(s) of this episode, check for grit and other foreign objects at the end of each trip, carry n+1 spare tubes, and make sure the repair kit has got patches.
