Video editing will need an i5 minimum
i even know what that means. I googled 'i5' it and found a list on wikipedia... some are dual core, some quad core, a range of frequencies... i don't even know if i need quad core? of is a quad with 3gb of ram is better than a dual core with say 6 or 8gb of ram... i guess Ram & speed count more than quad, dual or six core??? but like i say, I'm confuddled.

i5 quad core as a minimum. 8GB RAM (minimum) with a 64bit operating system.

An i5 is dual core with quad threads, like an i7 is a quad core with 8 threads.

Don't get too lost in this crap.

All depends upon use.

No.

An i5 is 4 cores. http://ark.intel.com/products/80811/Intel-Core-i5-4690K-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz
An i7 is 4 cores with 8 threads. http://ark.intel.com/products/80807/Intel-Core-i7-4790K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_40-GHz

Anyhow... an i5 will use all 4 cores for video processing.

I would also get an SSD of reasonable quality (no brainer)... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-CT512MX100SSD1-512GB-Includes-Adapter/dp/B00KFAGCUM
