The little fiat 500 or similar little "microcar" heading out into the peaks from Sheffield via Ringinglow. On encountering a cyclist making his way at reasonable speed considering the long deceptive climb, this car hung back and considered the options, before pulling half way across the centre line and passing with metres to spare.
So considerate, you'd think all overtakes ought to be like that.
Its a shame then, that I had been out walking Stanage edge and was heading back by car, and ended up churning up the soil at the side of the road as I partly left the road to avoid the car that was, in an inverse scenario to the usual, was so pre-occupied by the bike, didn't seem to see me driving the opposite way.
I'm still confused as to the meaning of the wild gesticulation after I flashed my lights and sounded my horn to alert them to my presence. But I'm sure lip-reading the cyclist, the words seemed to rhyme with "ducking crick"
