reminded of this excellent thread when thinking of the Icelandic eruption. Could Zeppelins/airships ever a viable (ie 'greener') alternative to carrying goods or people around the continents ?

We built a model zeppelin at school, it was about 2 meters long, 60cm wide and had full remote control steering system. We entered it into a competition and came first place :biggrin:

That car park shot got my attention as well. Recently had an architecture student design a sports stadium in Beijing, no car park spaces at all, lots of cycle racks tho! :tongue:

God, wouldn't it be amazing to be up there and you can have the window open! I think airships are fantastic - can't understand why they're not used loads more. Like I've never understood why we don't still use barges for heavy stuff that's not in a big hurry - gravel, coal, ore.
