FAQ

OK. I'm get a fair amount of questions asked over and over again, with regards to my cycling, my videos etc. As time is limited, and it gets a bit of a pain answering the same thing time and time again, I've decided to write a FAQ on my blog.

If there are any (reasonable!) questions that I have missed, feel free to suggest some, especially if it will save me time later on.

With the publication of my article in the CTC mag and my ongoing complaint there are a lot of magnatom threads at the moment. For this I apologise. These things are cyclic and so I am sure this will die down soon. A return to normality will be nice. Although the majority of the comments/abuse (most abuse happens on youtube and elsewhere I might add!) are water off a ducks back, sometimes it just becomes a thorn in the ducks side. maybe I should fly south for the winter....

May be add some links to relevant parts of the Highway Code re: overtaking, the advice from the IAM for drving safely around cyclists?

E.g.

Q: Well how should I drive then?

A: When overtaking....

etc

I've not read it fully yet, but looked like there were a few lies in their (truncheon ;)). Will read it later!

One question, not really that relevant, but interesting to hear your response. Do you wear your camera when on rides with other people, be that one person or an cycle club?

I ask because I don't wear mine on club rides, but would wear it if just cycling with my Mum or a friend of mine....mainly because recording everything, audio and all, could be seen as a little anti-social. What are your thoughts?

Mmm. I could add some of this. When I get a chance I'll see what I can do.

I wore it on Pedal for Scotland, but that was for fun (although goo will be along any minute asking where the footage is!). I haven't been out on many longer rides, but I think if I was with others then I probably wouldn't wear it. You would have other witnesses if required anyway. I might still wear it, if I was out on longer rides on my own though.

Goo is too slow, so where is the footage? We know you were enjoying the view...
