RIP. Great actor will always remember him as Mr. Kobayashi in The Usual Suspects. He was also great in the drama series The Sins, one of the very few british drama's that I enjoyed.

He really brought Obadiah Hakeswill to life. Brilliant.

THat was his greatest skill.

All too many modern actors simply have roles suited and written to fit them.

Postlethwaite had the ability to be absolutely believable in whatever role he undertook.

I live on the wrong side of the pond where actors are required to be slim, with square jaws and perfect teeth. Pete Postlethwaite would not get a look in. I cut my teeth at the Bristol Old Vic where acting ability trumped artificiality and this man is its icon. I watch TV and tears of frustration well in my eyes, I just watched the clip above and tears of a different taste fell. It takes a great actor to turn this old saw around "Laugh and the whole world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone". I cry for the the loss of Pete Postlethwaite.

A very recognisable voice too.

I was most surprised to see him turn up in The Usual Suspects as Kiser Sosay's associate - played the character well.

I hadn't realised he was ill either, but then actors regularly pop out of your conscience when they're not on the telly.

RIP Pete.
